Class of 2012 Leavers' Event

The Class of 2012 were invited to attend the inaugural RREF Leavers' Event in June, giving students the opportunity to celebrate their time at Reading and to find out what RREF can offer them as an alumni association.

The evening offered insight into life after graduation for students and how RREF continues to support alumni throughout their careers in a number of ways including CPD and networking events, regional groups and more all detailed in an informative Class of 2012 booklet. There was also the chance to remember University days gone by before venturing into the world of work and a selection of memories and photos submitted by the attendees were displayed on the evening.

The RREF RG10 Group (for graduates from the past decade) was represented by members of the RG10 Committee, giving the opportunity for the students to speak to these alumni and build their network of contacts early!

Andrew Marshall (MSc Real Estate Finance and Investment 2006), Senior Surveyor, Colliers International and Chair of the RG10 Committee commented "It was great to be involved with the RREF Class of 2012 Leavers' Event along with other RG10 committee members. The event presented the perfect opportunity to welcome the Class of 2012 as alumni to the RG10 Group but also gave us the chance to talk to the students about ways in which they can remain involved with RREF by attending RG10 events, becoming a year rep and joining a regional group. I would like to once again congratulate the Class of 2012 on completing their time at Reading and wish them a very warm welcome to RG10; I look forward to seeing many of them at the upcoming RG10 Profile Talk in October and at the Annual Dinner on 8 November."

One lucky student, Yiqing Tan (MSc Real Estate Finance) can look forward to attending the Annual Dinner free of charge after winning 2 tickets in the event raffle and we look forward to welcoming her there.

Another exciting addition for the year was the first RREF Student Award for the most engaged student with RREF activities which was presented at the event to Oliver Donaldson, a BSc Real Estate student who is starting at Cushman & Wakefield after graduating:

"I am extremely grateful to be presented with the RREF Student Award. However, I am even more grateful for the existence of RREF, that by participating with and attending RREF events, my knowledge and networks within the industry have been strongly developed prior to actually joining it. The added value of RREF is what makes Real Estate & Planning at Reading stand out from any other university." As the recipient of this award, Bryan Laxton, CEO UK Cushman & Wakefield, has very kindly offered to meet with Oli; one to one time with a CEO certainly cannot be bought!

We would like to congratulate the Class of 2012 once again and we look forward to their continued engagement with RREF as alumni after graduation.
