RREF Student Fundraiser

Job Description

The aim of the RREF telephone campaign is to keep alumni up-to-date with news from RREF, Henley Business School and the University, encourage them to remain in contact with us and ask for donations to the RREF Annual Fund.

The purpose of the RREF Annual Fund is to enhance the student experience and ensure a strong future for the School of Real Estate & Planning by raising funds to provide bursaries, scholarships and student-focussed projects that would not otherwise be possible. All telephone calls to alumni will be made by current Real Estate & Planning students at the University, under the supervision of the RREF team.


  • Call selected alumni and talk about their memories and experiences of Real Estate & Planning at Reading
  • Update alumni on RREF news and activities
  • Gain feedback on alumni events and publications
  • Ask alumni to make a donation to the RREF Annual Fund
  • Keep accurate, confidential records of all calls made
  • Ensure up-to-date contact details are recorded
  • Create short, handwritten 'thank you' notes

Hours of work

The telephone campaign will run between Monday 31 October and Friday 4 December 2016. Calling will take place on weekday afternoons and evenings and during the day at weekends, with a maximum of 16 hours of work per week. You will be expected to work all shifts that you are allocated during the campaign and attend two full days of training.

Training days: Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 October.

Rates of pay

Successful applicants will be paid £8.96 per hour (including holiday pay). Payment for the training weekend will be a flat rate of £60, which will only be awarded to those callers who complete all of their allocated shifts over the duration of the campaign.

Person Specification

The ideal student caller will be:

  • A great communicator
  • A passionate individual who enjoys speaking to a variety of people on the telephone
  • Have an outgoing personality and a polite, pleasant manner
  • Be reliable and an accurate time-keeper
  • Have a positive outlook on student life at Reading and the ability to project a positive image of the University, Henley Business School and RREF
  • Looking to gain great transferable skills that will be useful for a career in property
  • Interested in speaking to industry professionals and Real Estate & Planning Alumni
