Nick Cutter (BSc Land Management, 2006) Rural Surveyor, Smiths GoreNick Cutter

"Having grown up South of Salisbury on a rural estate I joined the 3 year BSc Land Management degree feeling it offered me the widest grounding in all aspects of surveying that are encountered on Rural Estates.

During my time at the University of Reading I was able to pursue a large amount of offshore sailing including sponsorship for a record attempt to be part of the youngest crew to race around Great Britain nonstop. Smiths Gore has allowed me to continue my sailing enabling me to represent great Britain at the Commodores cup in 2008 and many other large regattas.

Following the "milk round" I was offered a job with Smiths Gore in Petworth which I started in October 2006. I am Assistant Agent to large estates in West Sussex and Surrey. My work and the experience I have gained in the role has enabled me to qualify as a Chartered Survey in Rural Practice."

Andrew Marshall (MSc Real Estate Finance and Investment, 2006) Senior Surveyor, Colliers InternationalAndrew Marshall

Following an Economics undergraduate degree and a short period at PwC, Andrew decided to change his career path and follow the surveying route. He was accepted on the MSc Real Estate Investment course at Reading in 2005 and was offered a graduate role at Colliers International upon graduating. Andrew began his training in the Management department where he remained for four years apart from a rotation into the Valuation to gain experience for his APC. He has now transferred to Retail Investment Department where he specialises in High Street and Shopping Centre investments.

Andrew has been a member of the RG10 committee since he first began working in London as he felt that it was a way in which he could give something back to RREF. After two years as Deputy Chairman, he will soon take over as Chairman.
