InFocus: PropTech

PropTech has exploded onto the scene in the property industry over the last two years as one of the major sector innovations that is already laying the groundwork for the future of property.

By Chris Pyrah, Product Design Manager

By generating new and unique ways to tackle asset management, valuation and much more, PropTech is revolutionising the way that people and firms operate in the world of real estate. From utilising drones to help carry out building inspections and 3D printing homes, to cutting-edge algorithms that are re-shaping management and blockchaining practices, the sector is changing like never before.

However, there are still many areas that are waiting to be touched by the PropTech wave, and PropTech, as a concept still needs to be fully understood in order to become completely integrated in the property industry.

At the Reading Real Estate Foundation, we want to ensure that as the industry's pre-eminent educational charity, there are opportunities to discuss and learn about PropTech in a balanced and informative way, so that as many people as possible can reap the benefits PropTech is bringing both to entrepreneurs and users.

In order to address this, RREF and Henley Business School are conducting a survey to gain an insight into the industry's perceptions of PropTech, how aware people are of the innovations that are being brought to the fore, and what challenges PropTech entrepreneurs have faced, and are facing getting their ideas out to the market place.

To take the survey please visit

RREF PropTech Survey

The survey should take no more than 10 minutes, and as a thank you for participating, we would be delighted to share a link to an exclusive article, by one of our Real Estate & Planning academics on the subject of PropTech and the use of technology in the sector. .

The information that you provide in the survey will be used exclusively by the Reading Real Estate Foundation and Henley Business School to inform internal research, and the type of events and information that we offer to current students and our alumni network. This information will not be circulated to third parties, or organisations outside of RREF and Henley Business School.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with a member of the RREF team.
