Mentoring Programme Update

John Tranter Memorial Mentoring Awards

The Mentor and Mentee of the Year 2014 awards are now open for nominations. If you are yet to nominate your mentee, please click here to see the award criteria and make your nomination. The deadline for nominations to be made is Monday 5 May, and the winner will receive a VIP guest ticket to the Annual Dinner where they will be announced as 'Mentee of the Year'.

RREF is hugely grateful to all our mentors for the time they have given to the programme so far. Launched in 2011, the Mentor and Mentee of the Year awards provide individuals the opportunity to recognise and reward the exceptional commitment, enthusiasm and proactivity of their partner.

Our students feel a great sense of pride receiving a nomination from their mentor and value the opportunity to thank their mentors for their efforts by nominating them for this award.

"I am nominating my mentor for his fantastic support and dedication. Since our very first meeting he has always been very positive towards my situation and never allowed me to be disheartened. He amended my CV and provided me with exceptional advice with regards to my future career path. There has never been a time when I was not able to arrange a meeting with him. In addition, my mentor was kind enough to arrange our meetings to further include additional time with a colleague of his to provide me with the wonderful possibility of enhancing my knowledge and understanding about the property industry. I cannot thank the Reading Real Estate Foundation enough for providing me with such an opportunity to meet exceptional people like my mentor."

RREF Mentoring ReceptionMentoringReception2014

We were delighted to welcome over 120 mentors and mentees to the annual RREF Mentoring Reception on Wednesday 5 March, hosted by leading law firm Irwin Mitchell.

The event is a fantastic opportunity for mentors and mentees involved in the programme to come together for an evening of networking with their own partner and other participants. As a result of the generosity of the John Tranter Memorial Fund, students benefit from complimentary transport to and from the event, so that no one is limited by financial means.

Guests heard from the Mentor and Mentee of the Year 2013, Colin Campbell and Jack Haining, and enjoyed a brief update on the Mentoring Programme itself from Bryan Laxton (Partner, Cushman & Wakefield), including RREF's growth in international mentoring and details on other RREF student activities such as the Access Internship Scheme.
