Mentoring Programme 2013

University Awards for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning (Team) Learning 2012-13

We are delighted to announce that the RREF team have won a University of Reading Team Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning 2012-13 for the RREF Mentoring Programme.

The awards recognise and reward teams of staff who have made significant, ongoing contributions to teaching and learning support and we submitted this initiative to demonstrate the extent to which the programme supports teaching and learning for Real Estate & Planning students.

The Mentoring Programme has provided students, at both Undergraduate and Masters level, with an exceptional opportunity to gain insight into the industry. The benefits have been wide ranging and some unanticipated. For the students, not only do they now have a personal contact in the sector, these relationships have helped them to develop their networking skills and improve their level of confidence in business situations.

The Mentoring Programme continues to be a success and goes from strength to strength thanks in no small part to the commitment and support of mentors and we are exceptionally grateful for their involvement.

John Tranter Memorial Mentoring Awards

Mentors and mentees are currently busy nominating for the Mentor and Mentee of the Year Awards 2013. The Awards were launched in 2011 with the aim of recognising and rewarding exceptional commitment, enthusiasm and proactivity of mentees and mentors involved in the programme.

If you are yet to nominate your mentee, please click here to see the award criteria and make your nomination. The deadline for nominations to be made is Monday 6 May, and the winner will receive a VIP guest ticket to the Annual Dinner where they will be announced as 'Mentee of the Year'.

RREF Mentoring Reception

We were delighted to welcome over 150 mentors and mentees to the annual RREF Mentoring Reception in March, hosted by leading law firm Irwin Mitchell.rref_mentoring_reception_2013

The event is a fantastic opportunity for mentors and mentees involved in the Mentoring Programme to come together for an evening of networking with their own partner and other participants. As a result of the generosity of the John Tranter Memorial Fund, students benefit from complimentary transport to and from the event so no one is limited by financial means.
