The new RREF International E-Mentoring Scheme supports over 40 students in its first year

International MentoringFollowing the launch of the new RREF International E-Mentoring Scheme in the summer, we are delighted to announce that we now have 38 non-UK mentors involved in the scheme and 41 non-UK students have been assigned a mentor from their home country. This is a fantastic achievement for its first year and a welcome addition to the existing highly successful Mentoring Programme.

Non-UK students were given the option of being partnered with a UK mentor and a mentor from their home country upon registration, the idea being that they will be able to compare practices and markets and assist them more readily in gaining relevant experience and job opportunities.

"I welcome the opportunities that arise from having a mentor both here in London, UK and back in Frankfurt, Germany. Planning a career in real estate investment, I can get an insight into current projects and compare general industry practices not just in the UK, but also in Germany, the market I prospectively want to work in. I can also discuss possible employers and career prospects with both my mentors and thus from a truly international perspective. RREF's International Mentoring Scheme is the perfect kick-off for me to start growing a professional network across Europe." Sebastian Gey, MSc Real Estate

How alumni can help

Increasing support for international students is high on the agenda of the Henley Business School and the University of Reading and whilst the introduction of this scheme is a step towards assisting with this, we are still in need of more international mentors, particularly in the countries listed below to provide support immediately to students on the waiting list:

  • China
  • Germany
  • Hong Kong
  • Singapore
  • France
  • Bulgaria
  • Austria
  • Ghana
  • Uganda

If you live or work outside the UK and can offer some time to support 2 or more international students at Reading either immediately (depending on students on the waiting list) or from October 2013, please complete the form below and we will be in touch. We would be delighted to hear from anyone willing to participate, Reading alumni or otherwise, so do pass this information on to your international contacts.
