Access Internship Scheme 2013

In 2010 RREF launched its Access Internship Scheme in order to widen access to the profession by helping students overcome some of the obstacles to participation. This year the scheme has grown to include 20 firms offering 24 paid internships. These have been offered to students who are unable to undertake unpaid work experience due to financial reasons or who have no family or friend connections to help them get that all important 'foot in the door'.

In previous years students have been offered full time positions upon graduating from company they were at as part of the Access Internship scheme. Students have even had their internships extended, fully funded - great news for all involved! Access_internship_student_visit

"This internship was such an amazing insight into the London property market and also the working practices which occur within the industry.

The team I was working with was so very approachable, friendly and it was clear that they were making a real effort to include me in as much of their work as possible. This inclusion was something that really makes a huge difference to the overall experience and makes it invaluable.

I was even able to make a few outside contacts of my own, during the BBP breakfast launch, which resulted in another business card, connection and conversation on Linkedin!" RREF Access Internship recipient 2012.

This summer we have already secured 20 firms who will be hosting 24 interns and offering them four week placements. BNP Paribas Real Estate, Briant Champion Long, CBRE, CoStar, Cushman & Wakefield, DTZ, GE Capital Real Estate, Gerald Eve, GL Hearn, Grainger plc, GVA, Jones Lang LaSalle, Knight Frank, Lambert Smith Hampton, LNR Partners Europe, Marks and Spencer, Real Foundations, Savills, SEGRO and Universities Partnership Programme (UPP) have all agreed to participate and provide a structured programme of activity and experience for 4 weeks which is valuable to a student intending to enter the property industry.

The scheme is just one aspect of the programme of support from RREF and the School of Real Estate & Planning at the University, which ensures that our students are as fully prepared for success as possible upon graduation. Employability figures for our recent graduates are at a truly impressive 97%.
