Access Internship Scheme 2013

The Access Internship Scheme aims to address issues relating to widening access to the profession by helping students overcome some of the obstacles to participation. We aim to assist those students who are unable to undertake unpaid work experience due to financial reasons and those who have no family or friend connections to help them get that all important 'foot in the door'.Access Internship Scheme 2012

Over the past two years we have supported 31 students through the scheme, some of whom were offered graduate positions as a result, and this year we hope to have the capacity to support 20 more students. The John Tranter Memorial Fund, set up in memory of John Tranter (MSc Real Estate, 2003) who sadly passed away in 2010, will support 7 of these internships this year.

"I initially applied to the RREF Access Internship Scheme as I was aware that experience and networking within the property sector is crucial. Gaining experience within the work place is also a vital component of the Real Estate degree, as it brings modules and concepts learnt in the lecture theatre into life within the work place. As I come from a non-property background and found it a real challenge accessing this crucial experience, the RREF Access Internship gave me a lifeline that opened up opportunities otherwise hard to come by without previous contacts. I cannot thank the John Tranter Memorial Fund enough and its fantastic work and support with RREF which is helping to broaden opportunities to students across the Real Estate course."
