Thanks to the generous support of the Carey Family Trust, the Reading Real Estate Foundation was pleased to award the first Carey Family Scholarship to Luke Flower this year. The purpose of this Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a Masters’ student at the School of Real Estate & Planning, Henley Business School.

Reflecting on his Scholarship Luke is full of gratitude and thanks. “This award will benefit me enormously and I cannot express my appreciation enough.”

As Luke explains “Receiving the scholarship from the Reading Real Estate Foundation has been a huge help for me. Without it, I am not sure how I would have funded the course. So I would like to thank RREF and The Carey Family Charitable Trust for giving me this opportunity to pursue a career that I can finally say is the right one for me. The course itself is going very well and I have already managed to secure myself a graduate job afterwards at CBRE.”

Luke studied Business Analysis at the University of Reading, graduating in 2012 with a first class honours degree. Following this, Luke held a number of different roles across different industries around the world. But, as Luke recalls “I still felt that this wasn't the right career path for me and knew that I needed to keep searching. I had started to learn more about the Real Estate industry, meeting a number of professionals in the sector and instantly got the feeling of excitement and eagerness as my knowledge grew around the possible routes it could offer. I began trying to gain some experience over the summer before I committed to the career and the Masters here at Reading, and now I can finally say that I have found the right career path for me.”

Knowing the reputation that the Masters in Real Estate at Reading held, and having thoroughly enjoyed his time at Reading previously Luke made the easy decision to return, but knew that funding his Masters would be the deciding factor if he could now pursue the career path he was passionate about.

By supporting RREF you can help a future student such as Luke build their career in the real estate industry. By relieving Luke’s financial burden the Carey Family Charitable Trust is investing in the future of the property industry. With their support, we are building futures, together.
