The Reading Real Estate Foundation's 14th Annual Fundraising Dinner, sponsored by Europa Capital, took place on Thursday 5 November at Park Lane Hotel in London. Well known throughout the industry, since 2002 the RREF Annual Dinner has been recognised as one of the most memorable events in the property calendar.

This year’s event brought together 400 individuals to support the work of this unique educational charity; ranging from alumni reunion tables and industry guests to corporate supporters of RREF from across the industry.

The evening successfully raised over £22,000 for the charity, with over £12,610 raised on the night, this would not have been possible without the generous support of our event sponsor Europa Capital and the generosity of our guests who participated in the raffle and auction. These funds are crucial to RREF and will go towards sustaining the charity’s core activities, supporting the excellent work that RREF does for real estate students, both in the present and the future.

Fundraising events such as the Annual Dinner not only raise funds to support the aims and projects of the charity, but provide a great opportunity to enhance existing relationships and develop new partnerships that are integral to the charity and will continue to take it forward. One pivotal relationship is the ability of RREF to offer current students such a close connection with the industry, highlighted by Sir David Bell who spoke on the importance of these ties and those between RREF, Henley Business School and the University of Reading, in working together to continue to offer a first class education experience.

The impact support from RREF can have on a student was clearly emphasised as the room listened to Neil Brown, a recent graduate from the University of Reading who took to the stage to receive his Mentee of the Year award. Neil spoke of the impact RREF support has had on him, not only through the mentoring programme and the invaluable link of having a Mentor in to the industry, but the importance of the scholarship RREF was able to fund that allowed him to focus on his studies and ease financial worries; ultimately offering him the opportunity to succeed.

The generosity of RREF’s supporters and the important role the charity plays within the Real Estate industry were demonstrated further on the night as the Class of 1995 not only took the opportunity to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of their graduation but also launched a class gift, the ‘1995 Bursary’, led by alumnus Nick Pemberton.

RREF celebrates 15 successful years in 2016, and we will hope you will join us for this anniversary dinner next year.
