Pathways to Property: Further widening access

Pathways_MOOC_NewsPathways to Property is currently putting together a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) targeted at 14-18 year olds. An innovative programme, led by the Reading Real Estate Foundation in conjunction with Real Estate & Planning, for Year 12 students in UK state schools and colleges who would like to find out more about the property sector.

The new MOOC initiative is designed to further widen access into this sector for those from non-traditional backgrounds, by reducing travel barriers for those located further from Henley Business School and allowing younger students to get a taste of real estate life.

The MOOC will introduce young people to the exciting world of property and explore key issues impacting on the sector such as sustainability, globalisation and the role of technology. We are working with Lendlease, using their International Quarter London project in Stratford to illustrate how these issues come together to shape property investment, development and management. The Recent Graduate group (RG10s) held a Building Tour of this development in April 2017 and were impressed by all aspects of the project.

The photos were taken during our recent 'scoping visit' to IQL with Robbie McKane and Toby Rinkoff of MotionBlurr, the film company who will be shooting a number of videos for the MOOC.

The MOOC is due to be released this summer as part of the University's FutureLearn portfolio.
